This is how we work hard to install attractive interlocking pavers on your Mississauga property.
The first step is to hose down your pavers to create a clean area. If you have any patio or outdoor furniture on your interlock pavers, we take some time to safely relocate them. Then we use a garden hose or power washer to wash them down.
You can be assured that we do a complete and thorough job! Next, we let the solution sit on your pavers for about 20 minutes or so. This will allow the solution to penetrate the dirt, helping it to lift and wash away easier. Then we scrub the solution deeper into the pavers.
We also look at the joints between each paving stone. We look to see if they have the right amount of sand, which helps keep the interlocking pavers in place. The level of sand should be about 50% of the height of the pavers themselves.
Pouring of sand on the bricks, into the joints commences. Once the sand reaches about halfway up the side of each individual paver stone. When done, sweep away any leftover sand, soil or other debris with your broom. Then we apply a coat of solvent-based and water-based interlock sealant. We use long, smooth and consistent strokes and evenly spread out any excess sealant.
For brand new jobs, we wait for the interlock to weather for approximately 2-3 months. That way, the efflorescence will come out (and not be trapped under the sealant, giving your interlock that milky, hazy appearance). And we recommend to let the sealer dry. Once the sealant has dried we add another layer of sealant.
